A Switch 2 jailbreak runs custom code, but resets on every reboot
Security researcher Sammy Hajhamid, known as pepsipu, has released ns2jb, a software exploit that runs custom code on Nintendo Switch 2 consoles using firmware 23.0.1. The tethered jailbreak enables homebrew, game modding and save-file backups; Hajhamid demonstrated it by adding custom characters to Mario Kart World. The exploit uses the original Switch game SmileBASIC 4, which GamesRadar+ reports costs €23 (US$25) on the eShop.
Bottom line — Nintendo may remove SmileBASIC 4 from the eShop and patch the vulnerability in a firmware update.

GameGPU says the current exploit does not provide direct access to the operating-system kernel.

Wccftech and OpenCritic report that OpenAI Codex assisted with the vulnerability research.

TwistedVoxel says the jailbreak could help researchers investigate the console and advance emulation work, but PC emulation remains uncertain.
