Nvidia adds Microsoft’s shader pre-compilation to RTX GPUs
Nvidia’s 621.01 driver adds Microsoft Advanced Shader Delivery to GeForce RTX GPUs, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Gears of War: E-Day among the supported games. Microsoft says the system precompiles shaders in the cloud to shorten first launches and reduce interruptions during play; both games must be installed through the Xbox PC app.
Bottom line — Microsoft says Modern Warfare 4’s first shader compilation takes seconds with Advanced Shader Delivery, rather than several minutes on a typical PC.
