Ukraine signs exploratory deal with ICEYE and Nokia for sovereign satellite communications
Ukraine’s Defence Ministry has signed a letter of intent with Finland’s ICEYE and Nokia to explore a sovereign satellite communications system. The companies say their planned systems would give governments control of satellites, ground infrastructure and user terminals; Ukraine currently relies on SpaceX’s Starlink, whose service has faced recent disruptions, according to the Kyiv Independent and Breaking Defense.
Bottom line — The letter is exploratory: no procurement contract, pricing or Ukrainian deployment timetable has been disclosed.
