WSJ says Musk ordered Starlink speed limits that disrupted Ukrainian drone missions
The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials and people familiar with the matter, reported that Elon Musk ordered speed limits on Starlink terminals used by Ukraine, disrupting some strike and interceptor drone operations. Musk and US President Donald Trump discussed the decision after it became public, the Journal reported; sources differed on whether they had discussed it beforehand and whether Musk acted alone. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington issued no directive and that SpaceX could make decisions under its terms of service.
Bottom line — Ukraine’s drone operations were disrupted, but sources disagree over who authorised the Starlink restrictions.
