Wolverine runs on PC through a free emulator less than a month after its PS5 release
Notebookcheck reports that Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine, released on PlayStation 5 on 15 September, is already running on a Windows PC via KytyPS5, a free open-source emulator. Footage posted on X by BrutalSam on 3 October shows the game at around 20 frames per second, while a separate test by Unreal Gaming PC measured most areas at 6 to 9 fps on a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and GeForce RTX 4080. Notebookcheck says the emulator ships no games and requires files the user extracts from their own console.
Bottom line — Notebookcheck's Santiago Nino argues the emulator's progress since 28 September suggests exclusives face a shrinking gap, though the game is not playable yet.

Notebookcheck says the first sign of the game in an experimental PS5 emulator, the 'Press Start' screen at 2 fps, appeared on 28 September on a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an RTX 5090.
-
Five days later, according to Notebookcheck, a lesser graphics card was running actual gameplay at up to ten times that speed, using an emulator build dated 30 September.

KytyPS5 published three new builds on 7 October alone, according to the article, which warns its performance figures may already be out of date.

Notebookcheck argues that earlier PlayStation emulators took years to reach major exclusives, by which point the hardware they copied was usually nearing the end of its life.

Notebookcheck's author writes that Sony's recent push against ownership may have 'woken a sleeping giant', a view the article presents as opinion rather than reported fact.

Insomniac's own support site lists five Wolverine updates, the latest being 1.002.001, though the game-updates page does not describe their contents in the excerpt provided.
