Fan-made ReSkate lets players run EA's Skate offline, downloaded 350,000 times
A pair of modders known as zee_x64 and ReGlitched released ReSkate, a fan tool that hooks into the Steam version of EA's free-to-play Skate reboot to enable offline play, private servers and custom maps. According to PC Gamer, the modders say they will comply if EA sends a cease and desist, though the project is open source with over 70 GitHub forks. EA has not commented publicly.
Bottom line — EA's silence so far leaves open whether a free-to-play title can keep its ecosystem once community tools fork its client.
