Personalised skin cancer vaccine cuts risk of death or recurrence by 42% in trial
A global two-year clinical trial involving more than 1,000 patients whose tumours had been removed found that a personalised vaccine, given alongside an immunotherapy drug, reduced the risk of death or skin cancer returning by 42%. Around two-thirds of participants received the experimental vaccine, made using cells from their own tumours.
Bottom line — The trial tested the vaccine in patients after tumour removal, alongside an immunotherapy drug.
