Black Forest Labs releases 5.6B FLUX image model for consumer GPUs
Black Forest Labs has released FLUX 3 Image Klein, an open-weights model for image generation, editing and work with up to 10 reference images. The Freiburg-based company says an INT8 version runs on NVIDIA RTX GPUs with 8 GB of VRAM, while its distilled model generates a 1-megapixel image in under 9 seconds on an RTX 4070. The weights are free for commercial use by individuals and businesses with annual revenue below €4.6 million ($5 million); larger organisations need separate self-hosting terms or can use the API.
Bottom line — The 5.6B-parameter model is available locally, but its commercial licence limits free use to businesses below €4.6 million ($5 million) in annual revenue.
