Kenya reports the second globally documented pan-drug-resistant Candida auris case
Researchers in Kenya identified a Candida auris isolate resistant to all four antifungal classes in a 28-year-old inpatient with a hospital-acquired surgical-site infection. Scientific Reports describes it as only the second documented pan-drug-resistant case worldwide, highlighting the difficulty of treating infections caused by the fungus.
Bottom line — The Kenyan case adds to the evidence that Candida auris can resist all four antifungal classes.
