European broadcasters identify 54 suspected Russia-linked physical attacks in six months
A joint investigation by SVT and the European Broadcasting Union identified at least 54 physical attacks or plots linked to Russia across Europe between 1 April and 15 October 2026, including arson, attempted sabotage, drone attacks and airspace violations. The investigation found the highest numbers in Poland, Romania and Latvia; its count excludes cyberattacks, influence operations and incidents not publicly disclosed.
Bottom line — Swedish Chief of Staff Carl-Johan Edström says Europe should prepare for a confrontation that could last 10 to 15 years.
