Open-source toolkit recompiles original Xbox games into native programs
The Xboxrecomp project translates original Xbox game binaries into C, then builds native programs for Windows, Linux and macOS, without emulation at runtime. Its maintainers say Burnout 3: Takedown became playable across all game modes after about two weeks of development; the toolkit remains a work in progress, with title-specific fixes and testing still required.
Bottom line — Burnout 3 took about two weeks to reach playable status, but Xboxrecomp supplies libraries, not a ready-made game executable.

Windows uses Direct3D 11; Linux and macOS use SDL2 and OpenGL, according to the project documentation.

The DEV Community article describes a separate Xbox 360 experiment. It says compatibility, performance and legal questions remain open, and that the work does not replace emulators or official remasters.
