Developer builds game NPCs that remember—and spread—what they hear

Developer Yash Gurav built Hearsay, a small 3D village game whose characters remember events and pass rumours through a graph database. In a DEV Community post, Gurav says each villager’s version tracks its confidence and who passed it on, allowing characters to explain how they formed a belief.

Tarantino finishes script for his tenth film, but puts it on hold for his West End play

Quentin Tarantino says he has finished a screenplay for his tenth feature, which he has long described as his final film. On The Graham Norton Show, he said he will focus first on his play, The Popinjay Cavalier, then spend time with his family before deciding what to do with the script, according to CBR.

EA finds Wing Commander III master tapes for planned anniversary edition

Electronic Arts has found the original tapes containing high-quality footage for Wing Commander III, footage that was believed lost after developer Origin Systems closed in 2004. EA producer Jim Vessella said the material is being restored for a planned 30th Anniversary Edition; attendee reports say it will include both the new footage and an upscaled version.

Bottom line — The planned edition would restore footage from the 1994 game, originally compressed to 320×240.

Diet and supervised exercise put early-onset type 2 diabetes into remission for 54%

In the RESET for Remission trial, 27 of 50 adults aged 18 to 45 with obesity and early-onset type 2 diabetes reached remission after 24 weeks of a low-energy diet and exercise, compared with 2 of 46 receiving usual care. The Lancet Regional Health – Americas study defined remission as HbA1c below 6.5% without glucose-lowering medication for at least 12 weeks.

Bottom line — At 24 weeks, remission was 54% with the programme and 4% with usual care; how long the effect lasts remains unknown.

The Coen brothers plan to reunite for a film after eight years apart

Joel and Ethan Coen told AFP they plan to make another film together, though they have not chosen a project. Their last joint film was 2018’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs; Joel said they have scripts in their “library” and other ideas they have not yet developed.
