Microsoft cuts Family and Premium OneDrive storage from 6 TB to 2 TB
Microsoft is replacing individual 1 TB OneDrive allowances on Microsoft 365 Family and Premium with a 2 TB shared pool, reducing the maximum storage for six users from 6 TB. New and upgraded subscriptions switch on 8 October 2026; existing customers move at their first renewal on or after 2 May 2027, with advance notice. Microsoft says files remain private and customers over the limit can access them for up to a year while they manage their storage.
Bottom line — The 2 TB pool can be expanded to as much as 10 TB, according to Microsoft.
